Ceiling over the grand staircase
The vaulted ceiling of the Grand Staircase, before the extensive renovation, was covered by decades of dirt and soot from the original oil lamps. The window had been boarded up for decades.
The ceiling has now been fully restored to its original bright green paint with hand-stenciled gold leaf stars.
