London in Monochrome
These images represent a personal rediscovery of my hometown, its landmarks, rhythms, and quiet corners through the lens of vintage cameras and B&W film. Shot mostly along the Thames and its surrounding streets, the lens traces a journey of re-engagement with the city’s iconic architecture, capturing familiar places with fresh eyes.
The analogue process slows time, allowing each frame to breathe. Without colour, the images rely on contrast, grain, and shadow to evoke mood and memory. The river becomes both subject and guide, leading the viewer through bridges, embankments, and reflections that speak to London’s layered identity.
In monochrome, the distractions of colour fall away, allowing each landmark to reveal its quiet strength - how it occupies space, withstands time, and continues to shape London’s evolving cityscape. This is not the city as a postcard, but as a lived experience: textured, enduring, and quietly profound.
